In the oil and gas industry, communication system reliability, safety compliance, and operational continuity are critical to the success of any project. For onshore drilling platforms in the Middle East, where explosive atmospheres, extreme climates, and continuous operations are the norm, industrial communication systems must meet the highest international standards.
Recently, our engineering team successfully completed an overseas on-site commissioning and technical support project for a Middle East partner at an onshore drilling platform. The project involved the deployment and commissioning of a complete ATEX / IECEx-certified industrial communication system, covering hazardous and non-hazardous areas across the site.

The end user required a project-grade industrial communication solution that could fully comply with international oil and gas safety regulations while ensuring stable and clear communication in harsh field conditions.
Key project requirements included:
l ATEX and IECEx compliance for hazardous area equipment
l Clear communication in high-noise drilling environments
l Integration of telephony and PA/GA systems
l Centralized communication management via industrial servers
l Long-term system stability with minimal maintenance
To meet these requirements, we delivered a complete system solution, combining certified hardware, acoustic control products, and centralized communication platforms.
Our ATEX and IECEx certified explosion-proof telephones were installed in hazardous zones of the drilling platform. Designed for Zone 1 and Zone 2 environments, these telephones feature:
l Heavy-duty aluminum or stainless-steel enclosures
l Anti-corrosion surface treatment for oil and gas environments
l High ingress protection (IP66/IP67)
l High-output speakers and noise-canceling microphones
These explosion-proof telephones ensure reliable voice communication for daily operations and emergency response in potentially explosive atmospheres.
For outdoor and non-hazardous areas, weatherproof industrial telephones were deployed to maintain communication continuity under extreme temperature, sand, dust, and moisture conditions. These units complement the explosion-proof devices and ensure full site coverage.
The project included ATEX / IECEx certified explosion-proof loudspeakers, integrated into the site-wide PA/GA system. These speakers enable:
l Emergency evacuation announcements
l Alarm broadcasting in hazardous areas
l Clear audio transmission in high-noise industrial environments
In non-hazardous outdoor zones, weatherproof loudspeakers were installed for general announcements and operational coordination, ensuring consistent audio coverage throughout the facility.
Onshore drilling platforms are inherently noisy. To improve communication quality and operator safety, soundproof telephone booths were installed at strategic locations. These acoustic booths:
l Reduce ambient noise significantly
l Protect operators during communication
l Improve clarity and efficiency of voice calls
l Enhance compliance with occupational safety requirements
At the core of the system, industrial communication servers provided centralized management of:
l Explosion-proof telephones
l Weatherproof telephones
l PA loudspeakers
l Emergency communication routing
The server platform supports IP-based architecture, system scalability, and integration with third-party safety and alarm systems, making it suitable for large-scale oil and gas and EPC projects.
To ensure full system performance and compliance, our engineer traveled to the Middle East to provide on-site commissioning and technical support. This included:
l System configuration and parameter optimization
l Network and audio performance testing
l Rapid on-site problem investigation and resolution
l Technical training for local operators and maintenance teams
This hands-on engineering support significantly reduced project risks and ensured the system met both technical specifications and operational expectations.
Our industrial communication solutions are widely used in oil & gas, mining, power plants, transportation infrastructure, and heavy industry projects. With a strong focus on project-based delivery, we support:
l EPC contractors
l System integrators
l End users and asset owners
From system design and product selection to commissioning and long-term support, we provide end-to-end project support.
This Middle East onshore drilling platform project highlights our ability to deliver:
